MISSION STATEMENT
After years of promoting the American art scene, Compound Gallery has realized that something is missing... independent and underground Japanese artists have no voice here and we want to change that. Each time we travel to Japan, we meet more of these exceptional artists, and are impressed by their innovative, fresh ideas. At the same time, the American art scene is hungry for new and original artists to follow. It is time to expose the American audience to Japanese artworks. It is time to bring together the American art collector and the Japanese artist. This is our goal at Compound Gallery.

Lostfish www.lostfish.free.fr

LostFish was born in the south of France in 1983. She started working freelance in 2007 by making digital paintings with her computer. She started with character design and quickly started showing her art work at exhibitions in Europe and now in the USA.

Candybird www.candybird.free.fr

Candybird is a 26 year old illustrator based in the south of France. After graphic design school she worked as a freelance-illustrator. She has 2 different universes: a fairy tale world and a delicate, melancholic and feminine world... She illustrates children’s books, and makes exhibitions with sexy women. These women are a mixture between childish and femme fatale.

Ciou www.ciou.fr

Ciou comes from Toulouse, the pink city in the south of France. Actually she lives and works in Belgium. Ciou’s works are cute and scary, a mixture between wonderland and nightmare. She loves collecting animal skeletons, Vintage toys, specialty Bambi toys, taxidermy, seventies memorabilia and music. She is very interested in primitive art, religious art, Japanese culture, dolls, pin ups, cemeteries, carnivals and freaks. Her first important exhibition was in 2004, in New York at the flux Factory with Miss Van, Camille Rose Garcia, and some other girls. After this show, she had an exhibition in Paris, Barcelona, Berlin, Rome, New York, Bruxelles and Amsterdam with confirmed artist like Miss Van, Camille Rose Garcia, Junko mizuno, Lisa Petrucci, Tara Mc Pherson. Adolie Day www.myspace.com

In addition to her beautiful illustrations, Adolie was a textile designer for children’s fashion (Kenzo kids). This position clearly had an influence on her choice of colour and texture. In France she is edited by “La Marelle” (cards, buttons, paper). She has exhibited in France and USA. Adolie also illustrates children’s books. Her new children’s book “Le Chasseur de Papillions” or “The Butterfly Hunter” is currently available.
